Documents for Rental

A valid driver's license is required for car rental. For bike or scooter rental, this is also required by Thai law — you need a national category A license and an international driving permit (or international supplement).

Riding a bike without a license means: regular police fines at checkpoints, in case of an accident — the fault is yours by default, and medical insurance will most likely refuse coverage. Bills at Thai hospitals can reach tens and hundreds of thousands of baht in just a few days.
